English Grammar And Noun
English grammar is a part of study that makes us to write and speak perfectly. It enables the scopes through the language.
Every language involves some writing arts called alphabets and some alphabets together form a word which carries any meaning. Such words collectively form a meaningful sentence.
As we know some words are used for naming something, some are used for showing actions and so on. Considering such different words English grammar has classified them as Parts of Speech. It has been classified on the basis of behavior of the words.
There are now nine parts of speech:
1. Noun: Everything is noun.
2. Pronoun: Replacement of noun.
3. Adjective: Qualifies noun or pronoun.
4. Verb: Shows action.
5. Adverb: Qualifies adjective, verb or another adverb.
6. Preposition: Creates relation between Noun and Pronoun/noun.
7. Conjunction: Joins two words or sentences.
8. Interjection: Shows sudden feelings.
9. Article: Shows certainty of a noun.
Noun
There are mainly 5 types of noun:
- Proper Noun: Indicates a particular person, place, thing or animal. Ex: Ram, Delhi, Tommy etc.
- Common Noun: Indicates a community. Ex: Boy, Lion, Man etc.
- Collective Noun: shows collection of noun. Ex: Bunch of keys, Pride of lions etc.
- Material Noun: Non-living things and materials. Ex: pen, bench, coal etc.
- Abstract Noun: Feelings and emotions. Ex: Love, Pain, Sorrow etc.
Another types of Noun:
- Countable Noun: Can be count. Ex: pen, pencil, boy etc.
- Uncountable Noun: Can't be count. Ex: Water, Sugar, Salt, Hair etc.
Numbers Of Noun
There are two numbers of noun:
- Singular: single noun.
- Plural: more than one nouns.
Gender Of Noun
There are four genders of noun:
- Masculine: Male
- Feminine: Female
- Common: Either male or female
- Neuter: Neither male nor female
**Moon is considered as feminine and Sun is considered as Masculine because of their natural behavior.**
Cases of Noun
There are three cases of noun:
- Subjective: noun is used as a subject. Ex: Ram is a good boy.
- Objective: noun is used as an object. Ex: He teaches Ram.
- Possessive: noun shows possession on another noun. Ex: This is Ram's bag.
